MONTPELIER, Vt. – The sunny, crisp days of September in Vermont are an ideal time to get outside and visit a community fair, sample local food at an autumn festival, check out beautiful locally made artwork and handcrafted furniture, and take in some spectacular fall foliage. Vermont State Fair
Rutland – Sept. 2-11, 2011
The 166th edition of the Vermont State Fair includes carnival fun, food, demolition derbies and concerts by Vince Gill and other performers. 175 South Main Street. For more information, visit www.vermontstatefair.net.

Jay Peak Trail Fest
Jay Peak – Sept. 2-5, 2011
This event features 5K trail runs, a Tram relay, and a 20 miler “To the Border and Back” ultra run. This weekend has a run for everyone, no matter what their level. Garlic & Herb Festival
Bennington – Sept. 3-4, 2011
Everything from garlic ice cream to garlic jelly, pickled garlic, roasted garlic, garlic braids, and of course, plain garlic bulbs of every variety will be available for sampling and purchase, along with planting and braiding demonstrations as well as cooking demonstrations. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Camelot Village, Route 9 west. New World Festival
Randolph – September 4, 2011
An all-day, all-weather festival of Celtic and French Canadian music and dance performed on six stages simultaneously in historic Chandler Music hall. The Killington Classic
Killington – Sept. 8-11, 2011
This motorcycle touring rally is a must-attend annual event for New England bikers. The area hosts the famous 500-plus participant parade of bikes to Rutland. South End Art Hop         
Burlington – Sept. 9-10, 2011
Burlington’s South End is home to the greatest concentration of start-up businesses and artists studios in Vermont. For the Art Hop, 500 artists are featured in more than 100 locations, indoors and out at various locations throughout Burlington’s South End. Glory Days Festival
White River Junction – September 10, 2011
A fun-filled day of celebration and education of railroading and transportation modes of the past, present and future. Hourly White River Flyer train excursions run along the Connecticut River while local food and street vendors showcase their wares. Enjoy live entertainment on the main and children’s stage. Tunbridge World’s Fair

Tunbridge – September 15-18, 2011

The British Invasion
Stowe – Sept. 16-18, 2011
New England's largest all British classic and sports car show plus British cultural activities, shops, crafts and more. Northeast Open Atlatl Championship Weekend
Hubbardton – Sept. 16-18, 2011
Participate in or watch this 16th annual championship, part of Festival of Nations with Crown Point, NY, State Historic Site. Competition is based on ancient hunting technique of using an atlatl (spear thrower). Enjoy demonstrations and workshops on flint knapping, and Native American life and crafts. Teddy Roosevelt Day

Shelburne Museum Goes to the Dogs
