The Vermont Flower Show
March 4-6, 2011 – Essex Junction
The 2011 Vermont Flower Show offers three days of spring during the first weekend in March. Take a fantastical Medieval-inspired journey filled with flowers and fragrance. The event will include a central garden display, seminars and educational workshops, family activities, cooking from the garden demonstrations, vendors and more. Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission $3-$30. Champlain Valley Exposition, Pearl Street.

U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships
at Stratton Mountain
March 7-13, 2011 – Stratton Mountain
The 29th annual U.S. Open Snowboarding Championship is the event of the season and one that you don't want to miss.  Whether you are a competitor or a spectator, come take part in the longstanding U.S. Open tradition at Stratton Mountain. Women’s Film Festival
March 11-20, 2011 – Brattleboro
The festival, celebrating its 20th year, will be showing 39 films, including 15 films from past festivals. Special events will include a discussion with Senator Galbraith following the film “Bhutto,” Q&A discussions with directors, and a digital art show. Middlebury Winter Carnival and Chili Festival
March 12, 2011 – Middlebury

North American Telemark Festival at Mad River Glen
March 12-13, 2011 – Fayston
Free-heelers fly down the mountain at this event, described by organizers as the world’s oldest and largest gathering of telemark skiers. During the weekend, telemark skiers are treated to clinics for beginner, intermediate and expert levels. All the major telemark equipment manufacturers are on hand to give skiers the opportunity to demo all the latest equipment. Mad River Glen, Route 17. St. Patrick’s Day Parade
March 13, 2011 – Bennington
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at a festive parade on Main Street in downtown Bennington. Enjoy floats, dancers, candy, bands and more. After the parade, stop by Carmody’s for the largest Irish celebration of the year in southern Vermont. 1 p.m. For more information, visit www.betterbennington.com.

Relay for Life Nordicstyle
March 19, 2011 – Stowe
Think snow! Fight cancer! Come to the Trapp Family Lodge for the annual Relay for Life Nordicstyle, the only Nordicstyle relay in the country. This is a unique opportunity for winter enthusiasts to join the fight against cancer. Green Mountain Film Festival
March 18-27 & April 1-3, 2011 – Montpelier and St. Johnsbury
Independent, documentary and animated films dominate this annual festival. Films include “Animation from Around the World,” “Axis of Good,” “Breathless” and “Kawasaki’s Rose.” The festival will also include an appearance by Jonathan Katz, who will present his newest animated short, “Death Row Diet.” Satellite screenings will take place in St. Johnsbury on April 1-3. 12th Annual Whitingham Maple Festival
March 19-20, 2011 – Whitingham
Maple sugaring is a rich part of Vermont’s identity and heritage. Seven Whitingham sugarmakers will open their doors this weekend and educate the public about the art and science of maple syrup and sugar making. Self-guided tours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other weekend events include a pancake breakfast, craft show, horse-drawn sleigh rides and more. Maple Open House Weekend
March 19-20, 2011 – Statewide
The annual Vermont Maple Open House Weekend will be held at sugarhouses throughout Vermont. The Open House Weekend is the official kick-off to the maple season in Vermont and is an invitation to the public to visit sugarhouses throughout the state. Bromley Backyard Rail Jam and BBQ
March 26, 2011 – Peru

A Green Mountain Home Companion
April 2, 2011 – Woodstock
Folk singers, a steel drum orchestra, physical comedians, belly dancers, jazz trios, rock trios, clarinet Polka trios, and barbershop quartets are all standard fare at Pentangle’s mud season party celebrating the artistic talents of friends and neighbors. Pond Skimming at Burke Mountain Ski Resort

Franklin County Quilt Show
April 3-4, 2011 – St. Albans 
The 13th annual Franklin County Quilt Show features more than 100 quilts, vendors, a silent auction, demonstrations, awards, door prize and raffle. Special exhibits include Purple Heart Quilts, Breast Cancer Quilts and the 2011 Charity Quilt for Laurie’s House, a shelter and advocacy group for victims of domestic and sexual violence. The Mud Season Variety Show
April 15-16, 2011 – Randolph
This annual rite of spring features local talent and local humor. The fundraiser variety show touches every generation in the town of Randolph, pulling the community together for a showbiz extravaganza that fills the 575-seat Chandler Music Hall on Main Street. Vermont Maple Festival
April 15-17, 2011 – St. Albans
The annual Vermont Maple Festival will feature entertainment, a maple exhibit hall, antique, craft and specialty food shows, cooking demonstrations, sugarhouse tours, face painting, a pancake breakfast, fiddling and youth talent shows in downtown St. Albans. Sunshine Daydream Festival
April 16, 2011– Killington
The Sunshine Daydream Festival is a tribute to the Grateful Dead. Jerry-followers as well as those who simply enjoy soulful music will find an all-day party plus classic New England spring skiing and riding at Killington. Everything Equine Expo
