Farm Festival at Billings Farm & Museum Woodstock – May 1-2, 2010 Enjoy an entire weekend of traditional spring farm activities, including the annual shearing of the Southdown flock. Farmers from the region will match plowing skills in the fields with their teams of draft animals: oxen on Saturday, draft horses on Sunday. Mothers for Daughters Motorcycle Weekend May 14-16, 2010 – Dover With the help of other motorcyclists, motorcycle groups and local businesses, people are making a difference in working to find a cure for these two types of cancer. This third annual benefit event helped raise more than $15,000 in 2009 for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Kingdom Dandelion Run May 22, 2010 – Derby A relay half-marathon along roads passes along the Northeast Kingdom’s glorious fields of dandelions. The Dandelion Run is a competitive and recreational 13.1 half-marathon for runners of all ages and abilities. Walkers welcome on a five-mile course. State of Craft May 22-Oct. 31, 2010 – Bennington and Statewide State of Craft is a landmark exhibition at the Bennington Museum examining the evolution of the contemporary studio craft movement in Vermont (1960-2010). On view from May 22 through October 31, State of Craft features more than 120 objects by 90 Vermont craftspeople, including master artists, emerging artists, and key individuals throughout the more than fifty-year time-frame of the studio craft movement, c. 1960-2010. This exhibition is the centerpiece of a statewide showcase of Vermont crafts coordinated by the Vermont Crafts Council, in celebration of their 20th anniversary. Green Mountain Opera Festival May 26-June 20, 2010 – Waitsfield The Green Mountain Opera Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary with more than three weeks of events, classes and concerts. The mainstage production will feature Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, which will be performed at the Barre Opera House June 18-20, accompanied by a festival orchestra and chorus. The Emerging Artist production will feature Handel’s Orlando at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater on June 13 and in Waitsfield’s Neill Barn on June 17. KeyBank Vermont City Marathon & Relay May 30, 2010 – Burlington The 22nd annual marathon in Vermont’s largest city will include about 8,000 athletes.
